EP - New book

The local librarian brought in the book for me to borrow and it seems to be a good detailed book on how to construct a birth chart.

I have also got another 4 books from the library and have nearly finished reading them.

With this I can start to construct my birth chart using the books to help me.

EP - Ephemeris

I found that an ephemeris is a table of values that contains the location of celestial bodies at a given time.

It is either a midnight or noon ephemeris.

Also while I was asking for astrology books at my LRC in my college, one of the librarians mentioned that they had a book on how to make a birth chart at their house and is willing for me to borrow it.

The book should be very helpful to the creation of my birth chart.

EP - Reaseaching birth chart information

I have been trying over the weekend and up to now to try and find a way to calculate my local sidereal time.
I have yet to figure out what it is completely being new to this subject.
I have found out that a sidereal day is shorter than a normal day by 4 minutes.

I have found a blank birth chart which also has information slots on the side that I will need to fill out. This would help me in making a birth chart.

EP - Birth chart (2)

After researching about birth charts online I have found that I need to know my precise time of birth, date and location. Which, I luckily know.
This means I can make my own chart without any problem and can see if my chart reflects how I am.

EP - Birth chart starting

I have started looking around on the web and in the local libraries to find books on how to make a natal chart/ birth chart.
Most of the websites that I have seen online are about a computer program generating a birth chart and doesn’t explain how to make one the old fashioned way by hand and hard work.

EP - Review

I spoke to my supervisor today and the format of how my extended project should be laid out was explained to me.
I have so far been writing an essay on "How the universe has affected culture and society today" but the format in which my extended project should be laid is as a discussion.
In review of this I have decided to change my extended project to look at a certain aspect of astrology which I have chosen to be natal astrology. I will make an artefact which will be my birth chart and then write a report on how to make using my data as an example. I will then go on to explain how to interpret it again using mine as an example.

I will now start going over the essay I have written and adapt it to what I want now.
Taking the parts I have written about natal astrology out.

EP - astrology

I have started writing my introduction explaining the basic parts of natal and mundane astrology.
I will soon start writing about the introductions to the other two types.

EP - Natal astrology

I have been looking into natal astrology and am intrigued by it.
From what I can tell it seems like a more complicated version of sun sign astrology which most people see in their day to day life.
Natal astrology looks at someone’s personality in much more detail and can tell you many things about your personality. I am looking forward to seeing if it predicts me correctly

I have started and finished my introduction and I have started the first section of it about astrology.

EP - Starting of EP (3)

I have started researching the first section of my project Astrology.
So far I have been looking at websites like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_astrology and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horoscopic_astrology.
From the second link it mentions 4 different types of astrology: Natal, Mundane, Electional and horary astrology in which I will research into each one and use that material for my first section.

EP - Starting of EP (2)

After careful consideration I have decided to split my 5000 word essay in to 3 sections:
1) Astronomy. I will write about how mystics and fortune tellers view the universe.
2) Astrology. Here I will write how science has interpreted the universe.
3) Religion. This section will be about how the stars and the universe has come in to religions.

I will now start researching Astronomy and write up the section for this before looking at the other two sections.

I have finally decided to stick with "stars and the universe" as my extended project essay.
This topic comes across to me as interesting and slightly challenging.

I am looking forward to start writing about it.

Im now going to go and think about the different sections of this that I will write about.

EP - First ideas 3

After researching "the Starbucks effect" which while I found was very interesting it was also an extremely hard topic to research. There was not a lot of resources on it.

I am now currently researching Stars and the universe and how it has affected society today E.G. astronomy and astrology.

Hopefully this will be the topic I will stick with.

EP - First Ideas (2)

After researching Pharmacology and how drugs affect the body biochemically I have realised that this is not the topic I will base my extended project on.

I found the topic not as interesting as I thought it would be. While there is a lot of complexity to the topic, it is very factual and boring.

I am now starting to research "The Starbucks Effect" which I found while looking around for a new topic.

I am going to research about it and decide if this is the topic I will choose for my extended project.

First ideas for EP (Extended Project): Drugs and the effect on the human body.

My name is Metin Smith.

My first idea for an extended project will be around drugs and the effect that they have biochemically on the human body.

I have chosen this project because chemistry is something that intrigues me, from the way that the neurotransmitters produce different hormones to the way that our brain interprets them.

I will be looking in detail at what type of drugs have what type of effect and how, long term, they can destroy the body.

I am going to the library today to check out a couple of books on neurotoxins and neurochemistry. Hopefully these will be useful in my research.
